Community Guidelines

A framework for our community

The guidelines and information presented on this page are intended to foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for all members of the Houston Hillel community. These guidelines should not be considered exhaustive or prescriptive, as each individual's experience and needs may vary. We encourage members to engage with one another respectfully and seek assistance if they have questions regarding community etiquette or support.

Community Guidelines - the essentials

In essence, our Community Guidelines are designed to create a positive atmosphere that promotes mutual respect and understanding among Jewish college students at Rice University. These guidelines outline the expected behaviors and responsibilities of our members as they interact with one another and participate in events. They aim to cultivate a sense of belonging and support within our community, enabling everyone to thrive during their college experience.

Key elements of our Community Guidelines

Typically, our guidelines address the following areas: respect for diverse perspectives and backgrounds; encouragement of open dialogue and constructive feedback; guidelines on participation in events and activities; policies regarding the use of social media; and the importance of maintaining a safe and inclusive environment for all. To explore more about our approach, please refer to our article titled 'Building an Inclusive Community.'
